Michael Darveniza, MDSC (Qld), PhD (Qld), FRACDS

 
 


After graduation in 1972 from the university of Queensland Dr Michael Darveniza worked in private general practice at Port Macquarie and Rockhampton for three years.  Michael returned to The University of Queensland School of Dentistry as a full-time Lecturer in 1975 holding the appointment for 11 years.  He completed his Masters degree in Crown and Bridge in 1981, then completed a Fellow of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons degree in 1985. In 1982 Michael embarked on the first PhD in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Queenlsland.  His supervisor was Professor Meek from the Civil Engineering Department of UQ.  The PhD was awarded in 1993. in 1985 he went on Sabbatical Leave to the University of Michigan.  In the Crown and Bridge Department he worked with Dr Joe Clayton doing occlusal research (Pantronic).  He has been a full-time Specialist Prosthodontist in private practice in Brisbane since 1987 and has published 13 papers in peer reviewed journals. Michael has retired from full time speciality practise but still retains a very part-time TMD practice in Lismore.

An ADJ paper on “Full Occlusal Protection Theory and Practice” published in 2001 will, along with recent clinical data on Fully Protective Occlusal Splints, be reviewed during this course. 

Michael has lectured extensively and has presented courses throughout Australia and the University of Michigan.

 

Michael and son Ben gave a series of classes in dental hygiene to the students of HT’s Primary School Sumatra in May 2007.
